Designing for Safety or in the UK sometimes referred to Safety in Design is implemented through the CDM Regulations. The regulations changed in 2015, however SRM didn’t, why? Well, we believed we had been delivering what was expected of CDM Coordinators under the old regulations and it was others who needed to change, one of the main changes in the regulations was explicitly detailing the duties of the newly created Principal Designer. SRM have been implementing a proactive and practical approach to the integration of health and safety in design since 1996. We have fulfilled the Principal Designer role on many projects for a variety of organisations since the change in the regulations, in fact several of our client organisations have now adopted the processes SRM developed over the last 25 years.
With our knowledge and experience of construction and maintenance in the hospitality, commercial, health, life sciences energy and education sectors, SRM are well placed to help you discharge your duties, we can act as either your Principal Designer or specialist advisors as Lead PD to your own staff fulfilling the role. We can support PDs and clients in our role as CDM Advisors, providing independent support and advice.
