Safety in the Food Industry

13th June 13

A Food Safety Management System (FSMS) is a legal requirement,  and useful tool, to ensure safe practices are followed within the food industry. All food businesses from market stalls to mass catering are required to have a Food Safety Management System in place and to implement and maintain it. The FSMS should be based on the principles of “Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point” (HACCP);  an international method of ensuring that food is always safe for consumption.

HACCP requires food businesses to identify food hazards and put in place measures to eliminate or control them. Safety and Risk Management can assist in developing a HACCP-based FSMS and implementing it within your food business to meet these requirements.
